"Two For One" initiative contributes two trees for every one used to produce Plow & Hearth catalogs.
MADISON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Plow & Hearth, Inc.'s ground-breaking PLANTING TWO FOR ONESM program has been responsible for reforesting over 3,000 acres of land since its inception in 1991. Through annual donations to the Virginia Department of Forestry, the Madison, Virginia-based company, a subsidiary of 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, funds the planting of two seedlings for every tree used to create its catalogs. This year alone, the number of seedlings planted topped 300,000.

"Trees benefit the environment in so many ways, most notably by reducing the amount of carbon in the air we breathe. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, one acre of forest absorbs six tons of carbon dioxide and emits four tons of oxygen, meeting the annual needs of 18 people.
With contributions of loblolly, eastern white and shortleaf pines to both state and privately owned lands in Virginia, Plow & Hearth has helped to eliminate 18,000 tons of carbon from the air we breathe.

"The trees they provide offer numerous benefits to the surrounding community and allow us to forest land that might otherwise be developed."
