Statue is well crafted and quite attractive. Rather than using the good saint's bowl as a bird feeder - it's under an enormous oak tree - I've placed seasonal things in it, eg., a small bird's nest with three eggs (from a local craft store)and now that it's fall, a small gourd. We did use a rebar stake to stabilize the statue. Drilled a hold in the bottom and pushed half the stake into the ground and the other hald into the center of the statue. So far it has weathered well and has not been blown over even in a couple of rain storms with moderately high winds. We're very pleased with the statue.

The Chipmunks love the St. Francis feed dish, but the statue itself is prone to fall forward. I had to shim the front of the base in order for it not to fall over. Discovered this after it did fall over prior to installing it in our vacation home garden, and the product was chipped in the process.

I like the simple design. There is a small hole in the bowl St. Francis is holding for drainage but small particles of seed can block it. We drilled it to make it a little larger. Our only problem is the local ground squirrels found it before the birds did and love it. That's ok we like them too.

I GAVE TWO OF THESE: ONE TO MY DAUGHTER IN LAW, ONE TO MY SISTER IN LAW. THEIR ENTHUSIASM MAKES UP FOR ALL THE LESS-THAN-DELIGHTFUL THINGS I'VE GIVEN THEM IN THE PAST. EVEN THE GAL WHO TOOK MY ORDERS WENT IN TO DETAIL ON HOW MUCH SHE LOVED THE STATUE AND HAD PURCHASED ONE FOR HERSELF.

This little statue was exactly as I expected, nice resin appearance, styrofoam inside. It does balance on its own, but you will want to anchor it. To anchor it we drilled a hole thru the resin and foam and banged a piece of rebar into the ground, leaving about a foot above ground, a spike that we inserted into the hole we drilled in the statue.

It was a gift for my mom and she liked it very much.

I bought this as a gift my daughter in Texas and also for a friend in Iowa. Both statues have faded and become very brittle. One broke when it tipped over on the grass. I do not recommend this unless used in an indoor location which defeats the purpose of it being a bird feeder.

I purchased St. Francis as a gift for our priest & wife from our entire congregation. They have loved having it in the sanctuary of their garden where it is simply lovely with its rough-hewn look. They enjoy watching birds, too, so the fact that St. Francis has a feeder makes him as close to the perfect gift as it gets.

I gave this as a gift. My stepmom absolutely loved the statue. It is beautiful, and a happy reminder of the peaceful, nature loving Saint. I relayed to her that others recommended securing the statue by placing rocks by the base, or by burying the bottom inch... just so it won't blow over in a heavy wind.

Looks great in the yard. It is resistant to rain and hail but we usually bring in our pieces for the winter so not sure how it will perform/hold-up in harsher weather.
When i first bought it for my wife we had it set up in our sunroom and filled it with candy for the kids when we had parties.

I purchase the Saint Francis Statue recently. Last weekend we had a thunderstorm and wind. The status blew over and a large chunk of the resin was missing on the back. I didn't realize that the resin was so fragile. Any ideas how to repair it?

Love the statue, but at first sight of our neighborhood racoon, St. Francis tipped over and cracked. It's still useable, but I was disappointed that it was made from a heavy duty styrafoam.

WE love the look of this statue and have been admiring it in the catalogue for a long time. However, after we had thrown out the packaging we realized that it had a big crack in the base. When my husband tried to fix the crack it became worse. We were disappointed in the quality of the statue but are continuing to use it cracked since we tried to fix it.

I purchased the Tall Saint Francis Statue 2 years ago and it still looks brand new. Not only is it beautiful, but also is a birdfeeder! I have it in the front yard and by filling the front container with black oil sunflower seed, it attracts so many gorgeous red cardinals. It's great that the seed holder has a little hole in the bottom so that water doesn't pool there and make the seed moldy
It looks so much like carved wood, you really have to touch it to know that it is resin. Because it's not wood, it is a bit lightweight, which is great if you want to move it around the garden. I dug a little bit of a hole and placed it in there so that it doesn't blow over. You could also just place a few rocks or plants around it to make it more stable.

We setup the statue in our backyard wooded property, in the middle of a grouping of trees. I enhanced the statue, at night, by placing a solar flood lamp at the base... shining up on the statue and the surrounding tree trunks. It looks really cool, plus the birds like the bird feed I put in St. Francis's bowl. Great addition to our backyard.

This stature fits perfectly in our patio garden. The height lets it be the center attraction surrounded by Tropical potted plants. We would highly reccomend this item as a focal point in anyones garden.
