I use these along a sidewalk. They are attractive and the light assembly seems pretty durable but is attached to the stake by a filmsy piece that breaks with little impact. One of mine broke off when I accidently hit it with my leg while mowing. The tip of the stake that is pointed and penetrates the ground for anchoring is plastic and I had one break with I was using the string trimmer. These should be utilized in an area that gets no traffice or any type of maintenance like mowing, raking or trimmimg. They break way to easy for the price and I would not purchase again. Two of my four are no longer useable. Livingi n Seattle is a true test of the solar effiency and they are perhaps a little above average but not fantastic.

I found the path lights to be reasonably priced, attractive & easy to install. The wattage is low but they were strictly for accent. I've been very pleased. One out 16 lights did not work and customer service sent a new one out right away.

Light was flimsily put together and top came off. It was very difficult to put back together.

Very little and inconsistent illumination from the lights. I thought that since we were paying more, we would be getting a better product but I was wrong.

Comments about Plowhearth Solar Path Light:

We already had solar pathway lights that gave a more golden glow, so at first, I was very disappointed when I saw these glow. These lights are white, in my opinion. So we moved the golden lights to the front of our house (mixing them would look silly), and put these on the path from our garage to our back door.
They actually give better light on the path than the others and I have become very happy with them. I would now like to order more for the garden area.

Comments about Plowhearth Solar Path Light:

I am quite surprised at the negative reviews! I've had these for 6 years and love them. So much so that I am back to purchase more. My are worn out and I want something fresh! OK, really I just like to shop! I originally ordered the copper finish and they've held up well. Lighting each night sometimes with little sunlight during the day. They've been able to withstand the harsh AZ sun and monsoons quite well. I ordered 6 more in the darker pewter color finish and just set them up. They work divine! No problems. They cast a warm blueish hue over my patio and are so cozy looking. I love the fact that I can turn them off or on. If they need charging they can be turned off for a few days. Also, the AA batteries work much better then the button batteries that most lights come with nowadays. Overall, I am very pleased and hope Plow and Hearth never discontinues these!

Ordered 2 sets of 4 to use in garden. Two units did not work after setting up. Customer service was quick in sending replacements. The lamp fixtures look great in garden. Unfortunately, over the course of the summer, three of the lamps sensors started to function one to two hours later then the rest. Two of the lamps LEDs operate intermittently, blinking on and off all night. When storing the lamps for the winter, I discovered that water had leaked into the control housing via the solar panels and formed rust on the internal screws, battery contacts and around the solar panels. All in all, for the cost of the lamps, I was disappointed in the quality of the product.

We bought 6 solar path lights but two just don't want to light up except when holding your hand over the top. 4 of them light up when they want and may stay on for awhile. We took two out to wait to see what the others will do.
I think that with our landscaping lights that are around the home it just might be too much light. Really not too happy with them.

We had alot of problems with these solar lights. Only two out of four lit up. The manufacturer sent 2 "replacement", they were samaller lights. Only one worked. Then Plow and Hearth sent a replacement that did not work well. The manufacturer gave my husband tips for changing batteries, etc. We would not reccomend these lights to anyone.

Comments about Plowhearth Solar Path Light:

About a month and a half ago ago I bought four of these lights and installed three of them in full-sun locations. By the third night none of the three would light up for more than one hour, so I recharged the included NiCAD batteries manually and re-installed them. Third night afterwards again only one hour, so I replaced the batteries with fresh NiMH batteries. Sure enough, third night afterwards again only one hour of illumination from all three solar path lights, so I recharged the NiMH batteries manually and tried again with the same result. Conclusions: the solar recharging mechanisms in these lights are insufficient to recharge their batteries and these pretty items are useful as decorations, but not as lights.

Over the past few months I bought 12 of these solar lights but only got to install them 3 weeks ago. Five of the 12 have defective sensors - either they flash intermittently like a light house or they have no light at all! I would expect that kind of defect if I had bought them from one of the home improvement chain stores, but not from Plow and Hearth.

The only way to get these lights to work for more than about an hour after dark is to remove the batteries daily and recharge the batteries manually using a separate charger. I have tried both NiCAD and NiMH batteries and the three units I have installed so far will recharge neither type. Fourth unit is still in the box, and all four are going into the trash because the overall cost of returning them is more than the purchase price, plus I have zero confidence that replacement lights will work either.

Yes, these lights look great, but they're junk.

We've had the lights installed around a west-facing walkway in our front yard. Some lights are bright, some barely come on. Most of them are dim by 10 pm. Those that appear working are, indeed, brighter than the less expensive ones we've seen installed at others' homes. We are going to change out the batteries to see if that is helpful. If not, some will be going back for return. For the price, we are spending a lot of time troubleshooting.

unlike the first set of lights I bought several years ago from Plow & Hearth, this set seems to be extremely sensitive to the outdoor light by my door and would not turn on all night.

I'm going to return them all.

While I personally like this light it is quite a bit more expensive than the plethora of solar lights on the market. I would recommend this to a friend if cost is no object.

The lights were put on my driveway in full sun. After two/three weeks only one light was still shining brightly. One other light was very dim. The other two lights did not work at all. Another box was sent to me and I decided not to use it because I had lost all faith in this product.
