Everything I have to say about this beautiful little heater is PROS not cons. We love the looks of it, the efficiency of it, the way the "fire" is mimicked and the way all our friends and family ask where we got the stove. We love it!

There is no problem with the color of the stove. It is burgundy, not red. The problem is that the Plow and Hearth pic shows a red stove. It must be disappointing for those expecting a true red color. I love the darker color for my cabin. The fire is really nice looking for a fake. It is a plastic space heater, don't expect forced air heating. The doors are flimsy, but it isn't a big deal.

Lastly, do NOT try to assemble the legs with an ordinary screwdriver. You will strip the screws and be tempted to smash the stove with a hammer into a thousand pieces. Use an electric drill with a phillips screw head bit. Zip, zip, all done! Easy! (From a woman, ha ha!) It really is a beautiful little stove.

For some unknown reason, my approx. 18 X 13 bedroom in my 1925 brick Craftsman was built without a cold air return and consequently the room is quite chilly, if not downright cold in the winter. This little green heater fits nicely under my window (the top of it is acouple inches above the sill) and the design fits perfectly in with my decor and the sage colored walls. It really is cute and cozy looking; the hue is a deeper green which makes the plastic look more realistic. I expected a little bit heavier gauge construction for the price, but then again, it would have been too heavy for me to move upstairs. Unless you touch it, its hard to tell that its plastic. The doors seem a little flimsy, but so far, so good-still exhibits a tight fit. Others mentioned about the noise factor: yes, the motor does hum a bit, but its not really loud or intrusive. In fact, it sort of lulls me to sleep, but that's just me... My only real concern is that I expected more heating power from it as it takes a while for it to heat the room and I need to keep the door shut. Its never made the room "hot" but much cozier to the point I can actually not wear five thousand layers to be comfortable. I'm sure for smaller rooms it would be more effecient. Otherwise , I'm pleased, have had lots of compliments on it and would recommend it, especially at the sale price. It arrived in great condition within a few days- no nicks or chips. Adds great ambiance to the room.

We purchased this fireplace to serve as the sole heat source for the ground floor in our townhouse as it does not currently have any mechanism of heating. We have only had the product for 3 days but it just so happens to have been the coldest 3 days we have had so far this winter.

So far, the fireplace works great and functions more than adequately, on the high setting, to heat the entire ground floor, which is boardered by a garage and sliding glass doors and is just under 400 sq ft. After about 20 minutes of being in the room straightening up, I actually became too warm and had to turn the fireplace down to the low setting, which also provided adequate heat.

Prior to this, this particular floor of our home was absolutely frigid and I cannot believe how cozy and warm it now is with this fireplace! The fireplace is also rather stylish. We bought it in black and it goes very well with our new furniture which is described as "new country/vintage".

It is made almost entirely of plastic but you really cannot tell unless you are up close inspecting/touching the product. My understanding is that the plastic allows the product to remain cool to the touch and I can confirm that it does indeed stay cool and can be touched while running.

Our hope is that it is economically efficient as it claims to be but Plow and Hearth sales person confirmed that I may try it for as long as I'd like and if it is not efficient or if I am dissatisfied in any way, I can return it for a full refund.

We purchased this fireplace to function as the sole heating source for the first level in our townhouse, which does not currently have any mechanism of heating. We have only had the fireplace for three days now, but they happen to be the coldest days we've had so far this winter. The fireplace, on the high setting, has more than adequately heated the entire floor, which is close to 400 square feet and is boardered by a garage and a glass sliding door. In fact, after being down there for about 20 minutes doing some straightening up, I was actually too warm and had to turn the setting down to low, which also served the purpose. There is a quiet noise to the fireplace but we are somewhat used to that because our upstairs heating system is forced air and is actually noisier than this product.

The product IS made out of mostly plastic but unless you are up close touching it, you really can't tell. Apparently, this helps it to remain cool to the touch and I have to verify that it does, indeed, stay cool.

It is also a stylish peice and goes very nicely with my new furniture, which is considered "new country/vintage".

Overall, we are VERY pleased with this product so far and would certainly recommend it. My hope is that it will be energy efficient but Plow and Hearth has told me that if we try it out and it is not, they will return it for a full refund.

Very disappointed to find that this was a deep maroon brown, not red. It also has chips in the finish and legs do not fit properly, to the point that my quite handy husband got blisters trying to assemble it and still had several screws not completely in. The flame is not realistic, but it is pleasantly varied, and the heat does work, and the arched design is attractive.

Be warned that the instructions say not to put anything flammable on the top or anywhere nearby, despite how P&H has the stove pictured in the sales photos. Overall a disappointing product, but too difficult to disassemble and return.

I bought this fireplace to add some extra heat in our basement. It's very cute and functional, but I was disappointed in the condition of the product. When I went to put the feet on the bottom, some of the screw holes were broken and there was a piece of a leg that was already screwed in...as if this was a return and they just sent it back out with new legs. The legs still feel pretty sturdy even with some missing screws, so I'm not going to make the effort to send it back, but it makes me hesitant to ever order from this site again.

If it wasn't for that, I'd give it 5 stars.

We have had our stove for 2 years and we use it alot in the winter. It is in the living room and definitely heats it up. The only thing we have had to change on it was a light bulb for the fireplace look. If it ever breaks we will definitely get another one! We have the dark blue one.

Did what we expected. Looked good and worked well.
After a year, the fuse blew. It is hardwired and had to splice in a fuse holder. A few months later, the heater just quit. Could not find a reason. Makes a pretty lamp stand.

Love this stove! I put it in dining room and got the green stove, it matches perfect with my hunter green kitchen chairs. The heater works fantastic. Almost did'nt buy it after reading some negative reviews, but you can't please everyone. This stove is NOT all plastic as some reviews state. The sides are metal, I know because I stuck a magnet on it. The door and legs are plastic but it's a thick plastic not flimsy. Not sure about the top. To all the people complaining that its cheap and all plastic, if you want an all metal stove then maybe you should buy a REAL wood burning stove! Like another review, I too had a light bulb wedged in between a log and the glass. I just tipped the stove upside down till it dropped in the back, then unscrewed the small plate in the back and reached in and got it out. Also, mine is not noisy as other reviews stated. Of course it's going to make some noise, anything with a motor does. Bottom line, I highly recommend it! Thank you P&H

Love the look, but didn't heat the 400 sq ft. advertised--only zone heating, and this is my 4th southern (short) winter with it with not a lot of regular use, and heating unit is not working.

I bought the first stove because I loved the style and wanted to add more heat to the kitchen. It stopped working after a few months of intermittent use. P&H graciously exchanged it for an identical stove, which stopped working after two months of low use and now sits in the attic. Great idea in theory, but in practice, less than desirable.

Adding this electric fireplace to our balcony created just the right atmosphere for the outdoor living space we were in search of. Good if you have small children in your home, but want a fireplace. Some of the parts are plastic and they do break/chip easily. Unloading the item out of the box, a plastic piece of the foot broke off and I was being careful.

This electric stove is amazing. I purchased the red one. It's more than I thought. I helps keep the chill off while looking inviting with the flames. I didn't realize that the heater could be turned off, but you can leave the part that looks like a burning fire on. That is fabulous. I liked it so much I bought another and sent it to my daughter. She loves it also. The price is perfect. I'm glad I bought this item!!!

Two stars because it is NOT RED! It is a true purplish burgundy color, which does not work with my decor and is not as advertised. Perhaps a new batch from the manufacturer was done in this burgundy. Pain in the neck to return because it is a very large heavy item and the box arrived in bad shape. Otherwise, stove seems well made. DISAPPOINTED

I was so disappointed when I unpacked this little stove yesterday! The photo made it appear to be a fire-engine red (matching the accents in my living room). Instead, it is a brownish-red (oxblood) that doesn't match my decor at all. I will be returning it.

The product is used on my enclosed double carport. It stands in front of an antique mantle. The "fire" is so realistic you have to look twice to see that it is fake. Everyone that has seen it loves it. To look at it, you would never guess that the stove is not made of iron. This is just a top notch replica of the real thing.

Looks like a real stove. Very easy to use. We love it. We got it to just warm one room rather then turning up the furnace for the whole house.
It works well.
