Comments about Product: Bought 3 of the deluxe sunblock shades. Almost $400 dollars worth. No type of direction sheet in any of the boxes. So I have to hope all the hardware is there and nothing to be sure I am installing them correctly.

Comments about Product: While the shade does block the sun, I was disappointed in the cheap construction considering how much they cost. The plastic chain detracts from the look and I expect it to break soon (note you can't see it in any of the pictures). The shade pulls out of the bottom rail every time the breeze blows because it was made as cheaply as possible - I've had to put it back more times than I can count. I expected more for the money.
So far, we are pleased
Comments about Product: We just installed the shade and overall are very satisfied; however, the pull or chain is a plastic construction and we are concerned that it may in time break. Only time will tell. Regarding the installation instructions; they specified a certain width between brackets which turned out to be incorrect. We had to re-measure and re-install the brackets at the proper width after following the instructions. We plan on taking it down at the end of the season to help preserve the quality. More to follow, if necessary.

Comments about Product: The metal bar at the top of the shade was bent when
I opened the box, too bulky and difficult to return
over all very impressed
Comments about Product: This does a good job of shading our west facing screened in porch. We got the smoke. It is a light gray almost white color. We like it very much. Air passes through it very well. The chain mechanism is of plastic beads that are sharp. You must be careful when rolling it up. We are planing on ordering one more to complete the porch.
Love the sunblock shade
Comments about Product: blocks the sun
I would buy this product
Comments about Product: Love it! Use it every morning while having coffee on the porch!
Works well but need advance instructions
Comments about Product: We lost the tree that shaded our gazebo & needed some shade that didn't block the breeze. We ordered three shades for the west side. The SAND color is much lighter than shown with the bottom rail almost white. To P&H: Post the install instructions online so people can see how they go up and how they work in advance. They are big and expensive to send back. It can be complicated: we still have trouble reaching the one pull chain behind the swing, and thought we could reverse it, but couldn't. The slot would then have faced down (shade would have fallen out) if reversed. Seeing the instruction sheet IN ADVANCE helps to make sure they will work in your situation before you order them. It is good to have two people to put them up - hard for one. The pull chain has sharp pieces (mold edges) that can cut your fingers, so file them down before hanging. Also a tiny bit of WD-40 in the mechanism makes them work much more smoothly. Once installed they work very well and travel up and down easily. We have been using them for about a month and like them. I would recommend them IF you are patient and good with mechanical things. We are both engineers and still had some problems because of the compound roof angles in our location. For straight walls, etc. it would be easier. They are attractive, seem to be good quality and will last for awhile.

Wish it was a little More Deluxe
Comments about Product: Bought two of these, 4' and 8' to replace two older versions that had been in use for a few years. We had been very pleased with the old ones and upgraded expecting not only better fabric, but better hardware. The fabric is better and the tie downs are better. But the roller mechanism isn't much of an upgrade. The 8' popped out of one mount and bent the roller arm the first month we had it. It still works, but we had hoped for sturdier construction. They are still the best, most cost effective cooling strategy for our house.
I returned the Deluxe Sunblock Shade.
Comments about Product: When I order this item I told Customer Svc Rep that I had had two very disappointing experiences with a very similar item from another company. Broken hardware, no instructions. She assured me that would not happen with Plow and Hearth. It did. I did not get instructions and could not figure out how to hang it. I requested return, but was only given credit for the item and not the freight charge to send it to me originally. Very disappointing experience.
Works great, just what we wanted!
Comments about Product: They are used on a screened-in porch with morning sun. They work great to reduce the glare. Couldn't be happier.
careful what you need
Comments about Product: The shade is not 6 feet. The hardware measures 6 feet, this leaves a gap in my 6 foot windows. It does not block much of the sun. I bought 3 shades for my sunroom and one of the 3 chains is continually getting stuck and takes some effort to close. The chains are plastic so I worry about durability. I thought of sending them back but it took my husband the better part of a Saturday to hang them so I didn't have the heart to ask him to take them down and start over with a new product.
Comments about Product: Bought them mostly for the fabric to make my own custom window coverings for slightly narrower windows. I used the material on indoor windows that get lots of afternoon and evening sun. Worked like a charm to block harsh sunlight and heat while still letting me see out. They look great from both inside and outside.
A good way to fight the glare
Comments about Product: Wholeheartedly support this product. The only negative thing is that the beads in the chain can have sharp edges that cut. Check it out before using.
Wish I'd bought this sooner!
Comments about Product: I'm using this shade in an office area to block direct sunlight from the West. It works very well, and keeps the room cooler too.....a great bonus!

Cuts the Heat
Comments about Product: I use this product on the inside of a patio door to keep the heat down in the summer and the sun glare down in the winter. It does everything I'd hoped it would do. It just doesn't come down to the floor on my patio door, but I don't need that to happen to get the results I am looking for.
Comments about Product: It took two tries to get the right product. [...]The instructions are not clear to reverse right or left hand chain pull. The bottom section is flimsy and the fabric pulls out of the weighted bottom easily.
