Comments about Product: Love this spinner.
This was super-easy to assemble. It's a cool piece of metal art to have in a garden landscape. The only issue I've had is deciding where I want to place it.
I've decided to purchase another, yet different, spinner.
Comments about Product: Gave this as an early Christmas present to my husband and he loves it!! We mounted it on our deck instead of in the yard so we could enjoy it all of the time. It performs just like the video in fact I took my own to send to our kids. Would definitely recommend!
Comments about Product: My husband attached it to the railing on our deck so as to optimize the wind. Even with just a little breeze, it is spinning in both directions and fun to watch. During the summer, Georgia has very little breeze so we look forward to the change of weather and more watching.
Comments about Product: if this product spun in the wind it would be perfect...we live on a lake so wind is not a problem, but it really takes a strong wind to have both pinwheels spin...usually only one will be going...if it wasn't such a hassle, we would return it.
Comments about Product: I've wanted one of these for a long time. I love to watch it spin. It looks great in my back yard where I can enjoy watching it from our deck or as I'm going past the door. I absolutely love it.
Comments about Product: I really like this garden spinner. It works really well, I was surprised to see the problems some of the other people had that purchased this. I really wanted one one of these for awhile and they can be pricey. I'm happy so far, I've had the spinner for just over a year.
Comments about Product: I purchased this for my husband for his birthday. We are so disappointed that it does not work. We have a constant breeze blowing through our back yard. But, it will only spin if pushed by hand. Such a shame because it is beautiful. We will be returning it.
Comments about Product: I put this in my wife's garden after seeing one similar down the street at a neighbor's house. This one is pretty, but it hardly ever spins, even in a stiff wind. Not sure why, if I spin it by hand, it spins freely, but the wind has a really hard time making it spin. It was pretty much a waste of money.
Comments about Product: I watched the video and loved how it looked. Reminded me of the wind chimes on the movie "Twister". I was surprised how well built and heavy it was. Seems like it takes quite a big of wind to make both spinners go but once going it is gorgeous. Would recommend it to anyone as it is a work of art.
Comments about Product: The worst thing is that it wont move. something must be missing. If it wasn't so much trouble, I'd pack it up and send it back. It must [*]. Save your money and take your honey out for dinner.
Comments about Product: Windmill assembled and placed in 30 minutes. Not quite sure what to expect given the price but with ratings thought I would "chance it" How happy I am that I did. It's relaxing to watch and have received many compliments. The last test was durability. Three days ago withstood a near hurricane force storm . Will enjoy for years to come.
Comments about Product: This works absolutely great in the slightest breeze. We are just in Love with it and what a beautiful addition to the garden! It's quite the conversation piece. The only problem is the three section post it sits on is very wobbly and we had to fix it to keep it straighten by taping a garden stake to the three sections to make it sturdier. It's still a great piece to own. I'm glad mine works well and I'm ordering one for a birthday present for someone who lives on St. Petersburg Bay.
Comments about Product: I bought 2 spinners in this order...the sunflower works pretty well although it jams frequently...the large spinner arrived with defective bearing in one arm so only partially usable. Very disappointing since I am usually happy with my purchases from your company
Comments about Product: I saw both of your Kinetic Windmills at a Hospital in Cincinnati and just fell in love with them 3 years ago. I have just been able to order my favorite one and I'm so disappointed in it's function. We have wind ALL the time and only one blade turns a little. It is lovely in my garden, but at this point, I don't know if I am going to keep it. It was too pricey for me not to be happy with it. I want to keep it but I want it to work properly. Any suggestions? At this time, I can't recommend this to a friend. Karen McQuiston, Camden, OH.
Comments about Product: I waited all winter for this windmill to arrive. It's very pretty and was easy to assemble. The problem is that it spins easily when you spin it by hand but it doesn't spin with the wind. We tried everything to oil it, loosen the bolts, etc., but no luck. Plow and Hearth is being very gracious about letting me return it and exchange it for the other windmill that has bigger leaves and the reviews are more positive that it will spin with the wind. It could also be a little taller but I think we may be able to improvise something to make that happen.
Comments about Product: We have other spinners in different places in our yard to catch our desert winds. They work so well and we were looking forward to this one doing the same. So far, this spinner looks good but has not moved. I'm quite disappointed since I was considering this as a holiday present for several out-of-state friends.
Comments about Product: The spinner works great and have no issues with it spinning or turning in the wind. It looks so neat and can be mezmerizing!! However, after one day of use the nuts almost spun right off. We had to add a washer and locking nut to keep it together. Hope it holds up. Will buy another one as a birthday gift.
Comments about Product: While this is pretty to look at, the "paddles" of the leaves are just to skinny to pick up the wind. We live where the wind is ALWAYS blowing, this barely moves, poor design does not allow the wind to move the paddles, they are just too slim. I know this because we have the other spinner from P & H, with the larger, wider paddles and it moves beautifully. Im disappointed. I know it turns because if I move it by hand it turns.
Comments about Product: I know I put this together correctly, as it spins if I manually move it. The design however is a bit lacking. The smaller petal design isn't wide enough to grab the air to spin. I have the other kinetic spinner (with the bigger paddles) and it spins great. Huge design flaw. I have this in a pretty windy area, as the other spins and it's quite close to my other spinner.
Comments about Product: Beautiful as a stationary yard sculpture, but ours does not turn "in the slightest breeze" nor even in a 25mph gust. The unit does follow the wind direction, but neither wheel turns independently or together. I have lubricated the centers of both wheels; I have also loosened the nut slightly that holds the wheel to the axle. That helped generate a small, slow back-and-forth movement, but neither wheel has made a complete revolution. It seems like they are not balanced. I have relocated the spinner to several different parts of my yard with the same results. I won't return this piece, but I am pretty disappointed. I called customer service, and they were all very nice. But they have no helpful instructions beyond reading customer comments. The instruction sheet doesn't have any words--just drawings. And that's fine when everything works right, but there are no instructions on how to troubleshoot this piece. P&H customer service recommended that I bend the individual vanes to better catch the wind. How? If anybody has suggestions, I'd be really glad to hear them. Thanks.
Comments about Product: This is a wonderful spinner. Easy to assemble. Works perfectly in even a slight breeze. I had seen these costing $1,000 or more, and wanted to get one, but couldn't afford it. This is a little smaller, but looks and works like the expensive ones. Love it!
Comments about Product: I love the textural, and playful element that this items adds to my garden. I've only had it a few months, so time will tell as to how it holds up. I am optimistic that it will give years of pleasure.
Comments about Product: This is a nice compliment to our garden. It spins easily with a moderate breeze and is totally enjoyable to watch. I am looking forward to having it in our garden for years to come!
Comments about Product: After reading other reviews I worried about the durability of windmill. I am pleased with purchase. Unit is not fragile. We mounted to a post of the chain-link fence up a little higher than its post. The visual is wonderful. Today, in fact, the fall winds are beginning here and it is really getting a workout. I would absolutely purchase this again. For our home it is a very good value.
Comments about Product: This is such a fun addition to my garden--I get so many compliments and it's so fun to watch on windy days when the wheels spin in opposite directions. It's also fun to watch the birds try to perch on the wheels and take a ride.
Comments about Product: We love our new windmill although it is smaller than our old one. We decided we would buy two more but when I went to the website to buy another one, the price had gone up! What's up with that?
Comments about Product: Installed easily but the two sections didn't spin well. One side was fine but the other wouldn't work. Had to oil it and tweak it a bit. Bought the other kinetic spinner also and same problem. They're both still pretty neat just don't spin in opposite directions. Poor design for spinning ease.
Comments about Product: My husband loved it-a birthday gift. He enjoys putting things together, so no problem there. It's unique-no one else has one. We have lots of wind, so it moves alot. Wish there were more of these to choose from.
Comments about Product: I ordered one of these awhile back and loved it so much I just ordered another one for my sister. I think she will enjoy watching it spin in the wind. Can't take your eyes off of it.
Comments about Product: Placed it right by our living room deck.We have a thistle feeder there too & the finches wait on what ever they can for their turn to eat.My four yr. old grandson & i were watching out the window, just a few days after we got it & a finch sat on one of the petals & rode it all the way around like a ferris wheel. We laughed so hard.
It it very unique. We love it.
Comments about Product: I have bought and returned two similar kinetic pinwheels from a different catalog and had to return both of them and they were more expensive than this model. When I saw this one I was hesitant but thought I would try it and I am very happy I did. Not only do the pinwheels spin but the stake that the pinwheels are on also turns with the wind. It is a great accent to my garden.
Comments about Product: This looks so great outside. When the wind blows the windmill turns in different directions and is so much fun to watch. Even my husband likes it. In my opinion, this is well worth the money. It would make a wonderful gift.

The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
