5 Quart Stainless Kettle
Lighter than cast iron and faster to boil, this high-quality kettle is ideal for making tea on the range top or as a humidifier on your wood stove. Made of 18/0 stainless steel with a seamless, heavy-gauge bottom that won't burn out or become damaged by heat, even if left dry on a hot surface.

This is the second kettle from Plow & Hearth that I own! This kettle is large - holds 5 quarts of water, so there is plenty when the entire family wants hot cocoa and tea. This model is my favorite, because the lid opening is large, making it very easy to clean. I keep one kettle on my kitchen stove, and one on our wood stove. They won't be ruined if they boil dry, but they hold so much water, that it rarely happens. These kettles are very well made, the first one we bought years ago, and it's still like new.Love, love, love these kettles!

Bought this kettle at Christmas for my husband for our woodstove as a humidifier. It is quite large, looks nice and holds a lot of water, which is great for humidifying. The down side is it is supposed to be heavy stainless, but is too light. It has rusted through already in spots in just a few months. Won't last much longer. Quality is poor, and not worth the price!

About Me Everyday Drinker
Comments about Plowhearth 5 Quart Stainless Kettle:
We bought this kettle for our woodstove, to add some moisture to the air in the house. Previously we used a variety of pots, kettles, etc, and always had some sort of issue with them - rusting, slow to boil, sediment left, etc. This kettle is quiet, boils quickly, and looks really good on the woodstove.

Attractive, comfortable handle, pours without leaking. Can be used with or without "whistling".

I bought this kettle because it was stainless and on sale and wanted to use it for the wood stove to help humidify the room. Well after one week of use it started to rust. I thought stainless won't rust. I called P and H and they said they would send another one. But I am afraid that this product (fabrique en Chine) is not up to snuff... even if on sale. But it does boil fast.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I want to use as wood stove humidifier as advertised but the bottom seems too thin to withstand constant heat and may need a trivet.

A friend owned this kettle and I always admired it. Finally got one of my own. We LOVE it! Not only is it functional but it's attractive and looks great sitting out on the stove, so we leave it out all the time. It boils quickly and the boiling indicator is so much fun! The kids say, "here comes the train!" :) We use it daily and it has held up very well.

We had a taller pot that my husband tipped over and scalded his leg. This pot is very stable and will not be tipping over.

We were looking for a replacement for and old kettle to use on our wood stove to give off moisture. We have used it to make our tea from time to time. It does heat up very fast and the whistle sound it makes can be annoying but I just take it off for a while or add cold water. Overall we give it a two thumbs up.

I love my tea kettle!
We've had out tea kettle over a year now and still love it. We use it as a humidifier on our wood stove and always have water for tea ready in the winter. It boils quickly, its light weight and cleans easily. Its well made and even if it boils dry, which happens often, there is no scorching or rusting.

5 quart kettle

I expected the kettle to be heavier; along the lines of stainless steel as in Revere Ware. So it is very light. The bottom is thin and if too little water is left in the kettle it tends to scorch. I was disappointed in this. Overall it is okay; just thought for the price it would have been a little more heavy duty.

We have a woodburner and have had to buy 2 cast iron kettles that start to show wear and tear. So far, this kettle is holding up well and not showing any problems.
