Excellent Fireplace Screen!!!
Comments about Product: Simply love it!!!!
Comments about Product: I was so please this arrived before Christmas but we didn't open until we got to our cabin on December 27th and found that it was damaged in shipping - the bottom left hinge was literally broken off from the main grill so the door is hanging from top hinge. We were out of town and out of range with no computer so could not report the problem, there was a slash in the cardboard box but it was not noticed when delivered. I had to 'make due' but wiring above and below the hinge so it would work. Really too bad as it works well otherwise.
I did send an email reporting this to you on January 5th but did not get a response.
Door Magnets Stopped Working
Comments about Product: This screen is beautiful but I bought it to keep the sparks in the fireplace and the doors won't stay closed so it isn't working as intended. The magnets worked for about 2 fires then stopped so you have to put something in front of the doors to keep it closed which is a hassle.

Legs Poorly Designed
Comments about Product: The attatchment system for the legs is very poorly designed. The back legs would not go on at all. I had to drill the holes lower on my drill press and then bend the legs. I had to bend the front legs to get them to touch the floor. The little wrench that comes with it is useless. The lock nuts are very tight and you will need to use your own 7/16 wrench. The doors close well, but one of the hinge nuts came off after the first use. The doors are nice in that you don't have to move the whole unit to add logs, but you still have to move it to sweep the debris off your hearth into the fireplace
Comments about Product: Nice but was expecting more

Have purchased two of these this winter
Comments about Product: Bought this screen as gift after ordering one for our own fireplace. So easy to add firewood now without removing screen. Very well built and received it promptly.
Comments about Product: I had to file down a burr on the right handle and doors were not aligned evenly.
Grown on me....
Comments about Product: Have used this exact screen for years now.
Our relationship started off rocky when the legs kept going wobbly but I've decided to relax and not worry so much about that.
This screen is substantial and well made and very good at doing what a screen should do : keep the house from burning down by flying sparks.
I also love the Pavenex Fireplace Blanket which attaches perfectly onto the screen and helps to prevent heat loss.
I love P&H and am here looking for a fireplace screen to give as a gift.
Their products are the best.
Check out their good free shipping deals on Fatwood ;-)
P.S. Not connected with company in any way nor do I know the owners.
Comments about Product: Great product
Comments about Product: Spent a lot of time unpacking and putting together only to notice after all the work that one of the hinges was not soldered properly and wasn't in tact so it all had to be packed back up and ret'd.....a HUGE hassle for us! We're unhappy!
Good screen for a large fireplace
Comments about Product: Fits perfectly! Looks good and feels sturdy! Made the hubby happy to have the doors open 180 degrees which makes tending to the fires so much easier.
Comments about Product: We like this fire screen a lot. It's not easy to find screens that have doors, are simple in design, let the heat and light through & are relatively inexpensive. Set up was very easy. We did bend the legs a little more than the way they arrived to get it to sit flat against the fireplace. There are a few imperfections in the materials -- divots here and there -- that initially bothered me but don't now. If you need perfection, this isn't your item; if you've got a more rustic setting you might like it a lot, as we do.
Great addition to cozy fires
Comments about Product: Service was very good and the delivery was close to the time expected.
sturdy, but has some issues
Comments about Product: First of all, when I ordered this in early January was told it was on back order and delayed about three weeks. I called when I had not received it; was told it was on further back order. This date passed; I phoned again and was told now a delivery date of March 5. I was NEVER notified of the status via emails. I am somewhat disappointed that the doors are slightly uneven and the handles to are quite uneven. It was tiresome work to attach the legs and braces with the nuts provided.
Not what expected
Comments about Product: Despite P&H's quality claims this is very poor. Hinge pins(nuts and bolts) backed out apparently during shipping. For something that cost this much I should not have to repair it right out of the box. Ordered three items packaging on all three was torn up by the time it got to me.

Comments about Product: fire guard is constructed as expected. The support legs needed a little tweaking so that the fire guard stood square against the hearth and didn't rock. Good news was that the could be tweaked, to give us a solid fit. Guard is much more solid than anything we have been able to find in stores locally

The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
