Comments about Product: I've used this the past year in my "mud room" and it really catches the dirt that drags in from the garage. The mottled color helps hide mud tracks, crushed leaves, dog hair, spills, etc. It's machine washable and the rubber backing has held up fine. The rug did release lint the first couple of washings, but it's minimal now. I'm about to order more for my other doorways; they're certainly not the prettiest rugs, but they're the best for doing the job that I want them for!
Comments about Product: Rug stays put at the front door. Doesn't show dirt and collects water and dirt when coming inside. The problem is that the pile is shedding and I find pieces of it on my floor. This is disappointing. It is supposed to washable - wonder what will happen then?
Teaching big boys how to wipe their feet
Comments about Product: This is the best rug ever. It is used at my back door, the front door and in my RV. I would recommend it highly. Less sweeping and mopping. EXCELLENT!!

Quality at a Good Price
Comments about Product: Great for those muddy paws from the 4 legged family members. Large size perfect for in front of a door or even on a side porch.
Attractive for Front Entrance
Comments about Product: We were impressed and glad to see it was not a high plush rug do it clears the doors.
rugs handling two big dogs very well
Comments about Product: these rugs handle two big dogs, eight huge feet and one avid gardener with muddy boots, just fine
Comments about Product: Just what I was looking for. This rug is so short that my back door can open and close without having to move it. It catches all the dirt and grass that gets brought in from my backyard. Comes in a variety of colors and sizes. Extremely satisfied with this product.

Comments about Product: Love the product not the shipping. Oh well.
By Army 2013
Comments about Product: Bought this for backdoor entry to trap the water & mud. Size small purchased is really too small, for it does not even cover the full width of the door. Fact that the door opens easily over this rug is a plus.
I bought three and love them
Comments about Product: Great performer.
The new style makes a huge difference
Comments about Product: We keep this rug by the front door and the long one by the patio door. My dogs come in and stay on the mat until their feet dry to prevent tracking.
We bought the original version of this rug close to six years ago, and it held up for four and a half years. I washed it at least every month in the washing machine, if not more often. When we bought the new ones, I noticed the difference right away, but I couldn't find another alternative. The large mat lasted less than a year, the backing destroyed by the washing machine. The replacement (third rug) for that is holding up better, but I'm also no longer putting it in the machine, simply spraying off with the hose and vacuuming frequently. I preferred the original version for our use, but until I find a better option I'll use this. If you are wanting a rug to throw in the washing machine, you may want to look elsewhere.
Mud rugs are the best.
Comments about Product: I love my mud rug runner. Here in Maine we have lots of snow this year and the mud rug absorbs the water. It is a great product.
great floor protector
Comments about Product: This rug is like a magnet for dirt and definitely limited the amount of vacuuming I have had to do...it does make a difference..I have one at each entry way on my hardwood floors
By Practical Girl
Pretty good at catching mud
Comments about Product: This sits in a greenhouse room just inside a dog door. My goal was to keep most of the paw mud and water from getting inside. It works. If paws are mud soaked some gets by, but that's to be expected. It's washed once just fine. Time will tell if it holds up to repeated washings. It's on concrete, so slippage isn't an issue.

Comments about Product: I thought it would be a little thicker (more absorbent)...it is an okay rug..i don't know if it was worth the price but overall I like the looks of it and hopefully it will absorb muddy paw prints...it does stay in place so that is a plus...
NOT LIKE THEY USED TO BE
Comments about Product: About 5 years ago I odered the same rug for a home in a very sandy area of Wisconsin. It has a fairly longer pile, works well and is easy to clean. This new version has a pile of about 1/4 inch and it doesn't look like it will do the job or last as long as the original. I am VERY dissapointed and will not be ordering this item again, unless there is a BIG improvement.
Skeptic and now a believer
Comments about Product: I doubted that this would really work as advertised. It's better. Ordered another one for the front door entry since we live in a state that has rain for half the year. New puppy hasn't been able to track anything in.
Comments about Product: I bought this to match a mud-rug runner that I already had. It doesn't match. The color is completely different. The fabric content is different.

Not quite what I expected
Comments about Product: I bought this rug for my back door to catch some dirt and water off of shoes and paws.
I was not impressed when I first opened it, as the edges of the rug are very shaggy and almost fraying. For the price (and the good reviews) I expected a better product.
I will see soon how this holds up, as the rainy/snowy days will be coming.

Nice look and traps dirt too
Comments about Product: My husband goes out in the wet grass/dirt then rubs shoes on back door inside mat. This mat traps the debris better than anything I have had. Great for pet door also.
Comments about Product: I use this product at my back door. Great for my three dogs and especially my husband.
I love these rugs
Comments about Product: I have these in my kitchen.Great for catching dirt coming in from outside. My cat's can't tear these up with thier claws.very sturdy
I would buy this product again and again
Comments about Product: I love it, especially when you have animals.
NOT LIKE THEY USED TO BE
Comments about Product: The previous pair of mats we purchased from Plow & Hearth lasted approximately 10 years. We will be lucky to get 10 months out of these.
Perfect for home with dogs!
Comments about Product: I have these rugs at each human door and at the dog door. They do a great job of trapping dirt and water plus they stay where you put them. I love these rugs and wish they made one in a large area rug size.
By Folsom Dog Lover
Really stops the mud!
Comments about Product: I still wipe my dog's feet when he comes in from the rain, but my foyer is actually staying clean now instead of being covered with slightly wet, dirty paw prints.
The rug is kind of thin and I wasn't sure it actually work, but it does! And the mud blends in with the taupe color.
By J Plamie
Comments about Product: These carpets help an elderly dog walk across the ceramic tile floor. They also keep dirt and rain trapped and away from carpeting. Then toss them in the washer and dryer and they are like new. We have bought 10 in various sizes over several years as new uses arise.
Great carpets for house with kids & pets
Comments about Product: I first bought these rugs 15 years ago, and have just about washed them to bits -- I could still use them, but the latex was gone from the back and I was tired of straightening them out after the cats would dive onto them for "rug surfing."
I am pleased with the quality of the new ones, haven't washed them yet, but we'll see if these hold up for 15 years as well!
The runner is a bit pricey, I think it's worth it, but you can always buy the striped runner for less which is also nice quality

Not what I thought
Comments about Product: this was not what i expected. the pile was so short, not at all like the pic. i dont know how it could help with wet dog paws. we live in a rainy area and i was really looking forward to this being a help with our dog's wet feet. i am giving it a try but so far does not look like it is going to come anywhere near the help i was expecting. so may send back.
Comments about Product: I am so dissapointed! I have ordered these rugs several times over the years and have loved them. I just ordered a replacement "Tan" rug and it is a completely different color/design than the ones I have and is not at all the Tan shown on the web site. The new tan is multi-colored (like the taupe) with gold, white and BLACK(!) threads. Additionally, as one reviewer also mentioned the backing is heavy and black. The rug threads are cut unevenly so the black backing shows in some places along one edge. Disappointing quality/product from Plow & Hearth. This one is getting returned and I'm hoping not to have to pay the shipping as the product is mis-represented.

Comments about Product: I have one each at my side door and back door. They work very well at keeping the dirt from kids and pets feet from getting into the rest of the house.
Throw them in the washer - they wash well and look as good as new.
My one complaint is that the rubber backing rips long before the rug itself needs to be replaced. I'd like to see a heavier backing.
Handy Mud Stopper
Comments about Product: So far, this rug has been great. I read the reviews and chose this rug based on the number of positive comments. I did not wash it before using, but it hasn't "shed" so far. If it proves to be helpful at keeping out mud and water, I'll get another one for the front door!
Don't go there!
Comments about Product: I bought 2 of these rugs. After a week or so of use, I noticed fuzz balls in my front hall, and other places on that level. We used this rug to wipe our feet when we entered the house. I realized the rug was copiously shedding fibers. I switched and put the second rug by the front door. The same thing happened--after about a week of use, my first floor was littered with fuzz balls from the second rug. I had thought the first rug was defective. It turns out both were defective and I returned them.
Lasts and lasts!
Comments about Product: I used to go to TJMax or Ross to purchase cheap "throw away" mud room rugs since they got destroyed in the wash after several cleanings. These rugs last and last! They vaccum and wash well. They stay in place with a really sturdy rubber backing and don't roll up on the corners like the cheap ones.
Love these rugs!
Comments about Product: We have two Golden Retrievers who always want on the other side of the door they are on! This is the second of these rugs I have purchased and have them at both the back door and the garage door in an attempt to catch as many muddy paws as possible.
Lighter color than I was expecting
Comments about Product: I haven't decided whether to keep this or not. It looks fabulous except that the tan color is lighter than the pictures look on the website - it looks like it will really show the dirt, but at least it is machine washable.
Not happy with these rugs
Comments about Product: I bought several of these tan and taupe rugs from Plow and Hearth several years ago. My old Plow and Hearth mud rugs are wonderful - they are durable and wash very well and still look just about new, and I love the colors. I ordered three more in the tan color last week and they arrived this week, and the tan color is entirely different from the photo in the catalog and also from our tan rugs we bought several years ago. The backing is different too, and the overall quality was not as good so I sent the rugs back. I wish Plow and Hearth would make their mud rugs like they used to. Our old Plow and Hearth mud rugs are still the BEST rugs! I would like to buy more just like those!
By House on Home
Comments about Product: Great for keeping the sand and mud that my 2 70# dogs bring in side. It's not quite non slip as advertised but quite an improvement over the old bath towels I had down before.
just as advertised
Comments about Product: low profile, good quality, and performs as advertised. I'm glad I got one for each entrance.
Comments about Product: Was looking for a micro-fiber runner to absorb mud & water from shoes and dog paws. There are many on the market and they generally quite thick and have thick pile "cords" that will absorb from tread or paws. This one is nearly paper thin. I didn't even pull it out of the box before deciding to return it.
I would only use this if clearance under a door were critical.
i have had this rug for years bought mor
Comments about Product: love this product bought my first 2 rugs 10 years ago still have them they look great bought some more for other doorways they wash well vacum well hold the dirt saves my floors
I got some for our beach house this time along with more for my home love these rugs!!!
Only sad note is that they don't have as many colors as they did before
not what I expected!
Comments about Product: Actually, the rug is ugly! Can't we make a better product in the U.S.A?
Please source products made somewhere else besides China. Profit margin may be good for P & H but does't help U.S economy in the long run. i was so disappointed I returned the rug.
Best in class
Comments about Product: I've bought a dozen of these, in different colors and sizes, over as many years. The low profile fits under any door. They go into the washer. The tweedy texture hides dog hair, dirt, wood chips and everything else we bring in from yard and garden on our feet. They also make good non-slip bath mats. The oldest rugs look as good as the newest.
Rugs working out well.,
Comments about Product: The 2 rugs work out very well. The bird feeder blew away the first night I put it out. Have not been able to find it.
Comments about Product: When I got this I shook the rug and fibers went everywhere! I had to vacuum the rug and all of the debris. So far though, it seems to be holding up. The water proof backing is nice for our snow boots.
By Dog Mom
Comments about Product: Bought this because I have 2 dogs and a 1/2 acre that can get pretty muddy in the OR winters. It seems thin overall -not plush at all, and there is very little pile on the edges of the rug. It came w/o instructions but I had read the other reviews and washed it before using it; they were correct, it left piles of lint in the washer & dryer. I'll keep it but am beginning to wonder how long it will really last. So far, I've not seen any real difference to amount of dirt my dogs track in. Maybe the rug is too short for their stride and not getting all of their paws?
I need one of these rugs at every door
Comments about Product: This rug helps collect debris from feet but it is so easy to clean up and most of the debris does not even show. I really like it!
Not what I expected
Comments about Product: Just not impressed with the quality. In the picture it looked more plush.
Comments about Product: This a good carpet and great value for the price. Thinking about getting another one. I ordered the smaller size and could have gone a little bigger.
Comments about Product: The rugs are fantastic at catching dirt off of feet and paws from our dogs. Only problem with replacement rugs is that the tan is not tan colors. It has a yellow, unattractive color in it. The two tone tan rugs were a lot more attractive.
Comments about Product: Rug stays put, seems to do the trick in absorbing water/dirt off of dog's feet. Could be a little wider to accommodate full width of door & allow for overlap on either side of door. (May have to order larger size to get that!)
Great mud rug, fast service, Happy!
Comments about Product: We use the mud rug at front door to wipe dirty wet shoes/boots on and it works great, absorbs water and dirt, wife very happy about that.
Great Mud Rug
Comments about Product: This rug is just perfect. Absorbs water and debris before it gets tracked in. Would like a choice in colors, but does what Plow & Hearth said it would do!
Best Rug Ever!
Comments about Product: This rug is better than I ever expected! I live on a farm with 12 Border Collies who have their run of the house. Rainy days/weeks are disastrous. I was tired of looking at and washing the loads of towels, throws and rugs strewn all over my floors on these wet days. I purchased two of these rugs for a trial run. Seemed like they were helping keep the dirt down.. but could have been my imagination. We'll, today sealed the deal for me. Monsoon rains all day long. I filed 48 dog feet through the door and across the path of these rugs. For the first time ever, my kitchen floor is free of wet/muddy paw-prints on a nasty wet and muddy day. I'm online now to purchase three more.
Doesn't look as shown
Comments about Product: The color and texture didn't look as shown in the catalog. Not as fluffy as we thought it might be and the color wasn't as uniform as the tan looked in the picture- it was darker and mixed browns. Will be sending back.

Great rug to catch dirt and water
Comments about Product: I have now ordered 5 of these runners and obviously would recommend them to others. They don't slide and are great dirt catchers.

I'm buying more now!!!
Comments about Product: I bought 4 several years ago and have totally loved them! So very durable, easy to clean up, washed hundreds of times & still beautiful!!! The only thing this time I'm not happy about is you don't have the red/orange one I bought before!!! I'm ordering 2 this time for a friend---she's always loved mine (she too wanted the red/orange one ) & I'm ordering 4 more for myself !

This is a glorified bath mat
Comments about Product: I purchased the rug to absorb the dogs wet, muddy feet when they came in the house. This is what the product claimed it would do. It was nothing more then a glorified bath met. The dogs walked across it and their muddy wet feet continued a path across my floor. It was over priced for the quality. I was very disappointed with this product.
Warning- mats have changed
Comments about Product: These used to be made in the UK and identical to the UK Turtle Mats. New ones are made in China and constructed differently. The backing is a lot thicker and heavier so may be more durable but may also be harder on the washer/dryer. Taupe color was same but tan was more tan. New material is 64% polyester, 24% cotton, and 12% rayon. The old ones were 70% cotton and 30% microfiber. I think the old ones worked so well because they were mostly cotton although they did shed a lot on the first washings. I didn't keep the new ones because of the material change so don't know how well they washed. These might be more durable but probably not as effective for absorbing water. Four stars for the old.
PS review was for 19" x 29". I'm assuming all sizes are being made the same now.
Comments about Product: We have cherry hardwood floors that show everything! These rugs really help capture the dirt. They do shed a bit at first. I gave mine a good brisk sweep with a stiff broom and that got most of the excess fibers out. I bought two the first time and then bought two more to put in the garage and on a stair landing.
A lot of lint!
Comments about Product: Attractive, non skid. I read several reviews before I purchased this rug. Many complained of lint. Yes, this is true. As a matter if fact, there was some lint/ material loss on the edge of the rubber liner. I didn't send it back because I just didn't have time for the entire process and I needed the rug immediately. It seems to do the trick for collecting dirt. Soon, I will need to wash it. I plan to do it on delicate. Just hope it doesn't totally fall apart. Then, I will send it back!
Comments about Product: I placed this inside my mudroom door to absorb water and dirt as my Golden Retriever and I step in from the outside. It is laid on ceramic tile and goes a long way toward saving the carpeting leading to the kitchen.

Perfect winter entry rugs!
Comments about Product: Ordered three for inside entry doors and was pleased to find how flush they fit and how slip proof they are. Perfect rugs for the wet winter season ahead. So glad I made this purchase!

Love this rug!
Comments about Product: I bought this because I have three dogs who track mud and dirt on a regular basis. It really works well in catching the dirt from their paws as they come in the door. It is an attractive durable rug and looks great in the kitchen.
Good but a bit pricey
Comments about Product: It does a beautiful job wiping off dirty shoes and boots of dirt, mud & water. Keeps dirt trapped in rug well. Would have given it a 5 star; however, when washing in a machine according to direction (I have an extra large load front load washer and dryer) it cracks the backing causing holes. I use air duct to patch, if not it does snag or run where it is split. When I first open the package, my first thought was it looks pretty cheap for the price. I have own two rugs (small and runner) now for at least 4 -5 years and they are holding up well. Best to wash with a pressure cleaner and air dry for no damage.
Not cut properly
Comments about Product: The rug is nice looking however there was a thin slice into the side of the rug that needed to be cut. It is also very linty
a little disappointed. keeps shedding.
Comments about Product: documented above
Comments about Product: Gets all the dirt and dust off our shoes when we come in with just a quick wipe. Looks great on our dark floors with modern furniture. Stays put--doesn't slide around.

really needed something washable
Comments about Product: my grandmother used this type of rug and she was very picky! I have all wood floors and muddy kids so I need something completely washable.

10 years and still going strong
Comments about Product: This was one of the best purchases I have ever made. Mine is the burgundy runner. It still looks brand new after 10 years of use. Washes great in the machine and dryer does not melt the backing.
Comments about Product: Bought my large rug several years ago for my back patio door since I have dogs and kids constantly coming in and out, and I love it! It stays put despite all the traffic, and I rarely need to use towels to dry my dogs' feet on rainy days (granted, they're Boston Terriers, but still...), and it handles wet and muddy shoes just as easily. My wood floor below it is never wet and isn't moldy (more than I can say for similar rugs near my front door).
It vacuums wonderfully, rarely coming off the floor, and a quick toss in the washer and a gentle dryer (you always want to use low heat or air dry anything w/a rubber backing) and it's as good as new.
I don't remember the lint issue others mention, but we've had this rug probably 6 or 7 years, so it's possible I had lint then, but it obviously didn't make any permanent mark on my memory.
I'm very frugal, but this was well-worth my money...I probably paid this price several times over for other rugs that fell apart, didn't hold up to dirt and mud, or left my floors wet. I will definitely pay the money to buy another one once this one finally "dies".
Great Mud Rug
Comments about Product: Wanted a mud rug that was non slip and didn't need a backing. Dog paws, kid shoes and general grime are problems in our place. I'd buy another in a minute.
By Dog owner
Comments about Product: I have a problem with my dogs coming in the house with dirty paws. I've used these rugs for several years and they do the best job (of any door mat I've tried) of catching the dirt when the dogs walk on it. And when it gets dirty I just toss it in the washing machine.
Comments about Product: I tried to use these rugs as described and found that the rugs were shedding big hunks of fiber from the start. I thought if I washed them that might take care of the problem and instead my washing machine was completely deluged with fiber and the rugs themselves were coated with it it the point they are ruined and so is the washing machine almost ruined. Do not buy these!
By Redbud Farms
The best washable rug
Comments about Product: Love these rugs. I have six of the runners for my house so I can rotate them and just bought a set for my travel trailer. I have four dogs and lay down a path of these rugs to get the mud and wet off their feet before they make it to the main part of the house. They are the only rugs I have found that have enough pile to "clean" their feet and are easily washable in the machine.
A quality product, however a bit pricey
Comments about Product: I purchased 2 mudrugs in the medium size. The rug is secure due to the backing and stays in place. It is thin enough for the door to easily pass over when opening and closing. I wanted a rug that would trap the dirt from pet and people traffic coming into the house from outdoors. It does. I would give it 5 stars if it were priced more reasonably.
By Horse and dog lady
These rugs shed!
Comments about Product: I hate these rugs! As directed, I washed them before use. They shed in my washer so much that I feared the machine was ruined. I took them outside to dry and they shed all over my yard! Although they catch dirt, they are still shedding. For the cost, I expected a better product.
So easy to clean!
Comments about Product: I replaced a series of cotton mats at the back door that each disintegrated with multiple needed washings in the washer. I have only machine washed this one once before using as suggested, but a quick vacuuming or even carpet sweeping restores it to a brand new look. This carpet stays down as I vacuum it too, without the edges getting sucked into the roller at all! I bought the blue medium sized mud rug because the small seemed too small to hold human and dog while her feet were wiped. I have used this rug for 6 months now and am very pleased with it!
Sending back on the same day
Comments about Product: I ordered the tan rugs - the online photo looks like a solid color. Instead it is multicolored and looks very cheap- not [$] dollars worth. My box was badly rain damaged so I had no hesitation on sending it back. Too bad it was so ugly - I thought it could be a good solution at my doors since I now have a new dog and have been tracking in the dirt. The only positive thing about this experience is that the service call center is in the USA with American workers.
Great Product Annoying duplicate emails
Comments about Product: Great product annoying repeated emails would not shop here again
Comments about Product: This is my second purchase of this rug. The first one I loved. The second, not so much. Every time I wash it my washing machine is filled with fiber and when in the dryer I have to clean the lint trap every ten minutes. I thought this would go away after a couple of washins, but I've had the rug for almost four months and the amount of fiber/lint found in the washer and dryer is no less than the first time. The first rug I bought was fabulous...something happened with quality contrl! I'm very disappointed!

LOVE THESE RUGS!!!
Comments about Product: I live in RAIN CITY with two dogs and two cats coming in and out of my house all day long. Until now, I've had a regular throw rug covered in piles of towels in front of my door to keep the dirt/mud/debris from being tracked into my house. What a mess! The dogs (a drooly 140# mastiff & a frisky 6# pom) were always kicking the towels aside and the throw rug would slide all over the place. I'd wash the towels every other day, but my floors were always covered with dirt and muddy paw prints no matter how hard I tried to keep them clean.
These rugs have changed all of that! My floors look GREAT for 3-4 days before I have to vacuum again. It's absolutely UNCANNY! I used to have to wash a load of towels every other day; not anymore! I just vacuum my mud rug and we're set for a few more days! Also, this rug is practically stapled to the floor; it stays put even while vacuuming!
I followed the instructions which advise you to "activate" the rug by washing it before its first use. YES, there is a lot of lint in both the washer and the dryer. I used a paper towel to wipe the soggy globs of lint out of the washer (which took about 15 seconds). I advise setting the dryer heat on low AND cleaning the lint trap midway through your drying cycle. My lint trap was so full I could barely pull it out! However, this is the ONLY thing I would complain about. Perhaps they could wash them before they sell them?? hmm.
Anyway, I would highly recommend these to anybody who is just fed up with pets tracking dirt and mud into their house. They are AMAZING!!!
By Happy mom
I just bought two more!
Comments about Product: I use this right inside my front door. It looks nice, does't slip and is a perfect place to dump wet shoes and boots, not to mention saving my wood floor. Great product...I would definitely recommend to a friend.
Worth Every Penny
Comments about Product: These rugs are a little pricey but worth every penny. I have three dogs that are in and out the dog door - rain or shine. And the kitchen door is our other high traffic area. The mud and dirt that came in the house prior to purchasing two of these rugs drove me nuts! These rugs saved the day!!! Plus they are machine washable.
Stops the mess.
Comments about Product: My husband and dog are in and out many times a day.Living in the north we have lots of rain and snow which ends up being mud on my tile floors.
With these mats at the doors the mud stays off the floors and saves me hours of cleaning.Plus they vacum up like new.
Great at trapping dirt
Comments about Product: I have two of the larger rugs, 1 small, and just ordered another large one. They really do the job of trapping dirt at the door. I have not found anything that works as well when you have dogs. They also work great in our travel trailer while camping - we come in from the woods plenty dirty. I would like to have a size just a bit longer and narrower - like a true runner. I would like more attractive colors - I have wondered if these are made by Turtle Rugs in the UK, which offers similar rugs in more styles. I do not put these in the dryer anymore. The backing sheds little black particles all over the dryer. I dry them outside or in the garage, which is okay.
Comments about Product: This rug is being used just inside my front door on top of a larger, tightly woven carpet. It is far too thin for a mud rug so that any walking on it causes the rug to move on the larger rug. This was true as well when I put it in another place on our wooden floor. Though the rubber backing is tough, it doesn't grip well. The fibers shed from the rug as well. Overall, its quality is poor and the price is far too high.
Comments about Product: a great rug, but costly for the size of it.

Tested by Great Danes
Comments about Product: We have hard wood floors throughout the house, and three Great Danes that access the back yard via a dog door. They come in and out many times a day, rain or shine. This mud rug does an amazing job of keeping dirt, mud and water off of the floor. I can't think of any cons to add to this.

Good low profile rug
Comments about Product: It is good in a heavily used entry where shoes might be dirty and where an opening door might catch a thick rug. I have it in front of a door coming into the house from the garage. I should have selected a bigger one. It sheds at first some, but instructions tell to wash before using.
looks and works great
Comments about Product: Great on rainy days when our three dogs come inside with wet and, sometimes, muddy paws. It does not dry them off completely, but takes most of the dirt and wetness off before they track it into the house.
Utilitarian, but looks nice too.
Comments about Product: It is ugly but it works.
Simple , practical , durable , clean
Comments about Product: Great at all entrance doors!
This is the fourth mud rug I've bought
Comments about Product: I love these rugs. We have horses and barn chores twice a day; these are the only rugs that stops the dirt tracking into the house.
Verdict is still out
Comments about Product: I love this rug for it's ability to trap dirt well, not staining the floor and having a simple look.
On the negative side, it didn't hold up well after washing. I did replace it with a new one and am just not washing it as often, which I don't like doing!
Great product, easy to clean
Comments about Product: I love this mat. It catches dirt, and the color hides a lot of the dirt it collects. It's easy to launder, too. A great inside door mat. I only wish the larger sizes were a little less expensive.

Love this rug
Comments about Product: This rug has saved me time cleaning up after the granddogs as they come through the doggie door. I love it.

Comments about Product: I have used these mats for years, and have been very satisfied. This time I ordered the charcoal color. I am glad I opened the box in the garage because there was lint everywhere! I put the rugs in the dryer , on cold air only to remove some of the the fuzz, but it was never-ending, and even without heat, the rugs stained my dryer blue! I must say I have never had this problem with the tan or taupe colors.

Comments about Product: This rug is ideal as an entry mat. It traps dirt. Wash and dry before first use. Your lint trap will be overflowing. The best feature of this rug is its durability. It will last and continue to perform for years. Most rugs lose their backing, especially after drying. I wash and dry this rug every two weeks without any loss of performance or appearance. It is worth the cost.
Love the mud rugs!
Comments about Product: Great rugs.
I would definitely buy this again!
Comments about Product: We live on the beach and have two springer spaniels who sweep in much of the great outdoors every time they come in. The family is always tracking sand, mud, grass, etc. The rug really grabs it. We now notice less dirt in the rest of the house. Good show!

ok, not great
Comments about Product: Bought for our back door where our very large dog comes in and out. The rug doesn't scrunch up under the kitchen door when it swings open and wicks about as well as a cotton rug. It gets sucked up in the vacuum though so you have to be careful when you clean it.
Comments about Product: How do these nice thin rugs hold all that dirt??? Amazing. Washes up nice, dont get caught up under doors and hold a TON of dirt where the dogs come in and out. Only cons-a lot of fuzzies come off the rug at first and I'd prefer if there was less black in the blue rug color but otherwise, awesome!

Traps the Mud
Comments about Product: We recently put in hardwood floors and I was looking for some type of rug to trap the dirt at the door. These work very well and are very easy to pick up and shake out. They also wash up very nicely in your washing machine. I've washed mine a couple of times and it still looks fine.

Traps that mud
Comments about Product: We recently put in wood floors and I was looking for a rug to place right at the entrance to help stop mud and dirt from getting on the wood floors. I found these work very well and are easy to clean. I like how light they are so you can just shake them outside or wash them in your machine. I've done it a couple of times and they still look good.
Worth it's weight in swifters & mops!
Comments about Product: I have an akita & a springer spaniel. Especially in the spring & fall I spend all my time mopping the floor with the dogs going in & out. The rug isn't magical but when the dogs come in now I have them immediately sit on the rug for maybe 30 seconds. That rug really does suck up the water & dirt & saves me lots of work!

Essential Rug for Pet Owners
Comments about Product: My husband uses one to roll out and set his woodworking tools on when he is at a job site. He uses a second to walk on. Clients appreciate this extra touch.
At home we have one inside each door to trap dirt and mud from our dogs and cats.

Love this rug
Comments about Product: I use this rug to keep my Lab puppy from bring the whole backyard in with her. I wish this sold a larger size.
great rug. will buy again.
Comments about Product: I use this at the entryway for our dog so the mud and whatever else stays on the rug and not anywhere else. Really works. For wiping boots/shoes it is fantastic. Have tried others and this is the only one to get. More color choices would be good.
Comments about Product: Bought this rug for my son to catch all the mess with him and his dog from the back door. Fits nicely infront of door and door opens and closes well with rug there. So far very happy.
Mud Runner Works as advertisesd
Comments about Product: All I have to do is shake it out
By Too many dogs
Comments about Product: First line of defense against muddy dog paws.
Comments about Product: I got the rug because when I would let my dog come inside after being out for a while he frequently had wet paws and my tile floor would get dirty. This rug does nothing to help with that. It turned out to be a very expensive throw rug.
Got a Bad One??/
Comments about Product: We had a few brown ones that we've used as entry mats where our dogs come in and to feed them on. They've been great. When the blue became available, we got one because it goes better in our kitchen. Well, it is NOT the same quality....it has been 'calving' blue hunks for months even after washing it.
Comments about Product: I got this rug for the entryway from the garage to our laundry room. It really does a great job of trapping the dirt. Holds up great, too
Great Mud Rug
Comments about Product: Protects newly laid wood flooring.

This rug works great
Comments about Product: We have 2 Yorkies and 5 children that means a lot of back door traffic. When the weather is wet or snowy out this rug is a must. I have checked my own shoes that are wet from outside just step on the rug and on to the hardwood floors no water marks can be seen or felt.

Comments about Product: I love these rugs! I have had one for almost 4 years and it washes up "good as new" I recently bought three smaller ones and they are the same quality as the one we have had for years. We have 2 dogs and live in the sandy southwest and I think these have saved our hardwood floors.

Comments about Product: We use the rugs at our entrance doors to help dry the dog's paws as she comes in.
Works great with a couple steps
Comments about Product: Had one in front of door dogs come in and it helped. I bought a second one to put right after it and now it's perfect. They have to take a couple extra steps which absorbs the rest. No more water and mud in my kitchen.

Comments about Product: I read reviews from customers that had purchased this product over 10 years ago, and they said it was the best product ever. They also added (which I ignored) that the newer rugs do not match up the quality. The carpet was extremely thin and did not at all pick up mud, pine needles, or even remotely dry our shoes. It did nothing except shed and cost me [$]. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
The Best Rug - EVER!
Comments about Product: This is the best rug I've ever used. It really traps dirt and mud, and it's super absorbant so you can dry off your shoes simply from walking over the rug. I have two dogs who get wet/muddy paws when I let them outside, and it really traps the dirt/mud/moisture on their paws so that they don't track it into the rest of the house. It cleans up great - comes out of the washing machine looking like new, although I don't recommend putting it in the dryer. However, it air dries quickly. I am not going to buy any other rug ever again. This one's perfect.
Comments about Product: This mat works! We have it right at the garage door entrance into our laundry room. The dirt stays on the mat, not into my house. I don't know the secret but this is a mat that can do battle with a 9-yr-old boy (and his father!) for the past 8 years and it's still winning!

Comments about Product: I am so pleased with this mud rug I ordered 2 more. The pile is low so doors all open without snagging, the backing is nonskid so stays in place, the taupe color is great since it's a mixture of shades and hides the dirt. Vacuums up very nicely. Have not launder yet,so time will tell on that. Just in time for the rainy season
Exactly as advertised
Comments about Product: This rug is exactly as advertised. I'm very pleased. I wish it came in more sizes. Stays put, durable, and looks nice.
Excellent, so useful
Comments about Product: We have bought these mud rugs for over ten years and had them in our home in SE Alaska where it rains all the time and now a our farm in Oregon where we have clay based mud! We have three big bird dogs, and we could not live without these rugs. My husband also uses one under his chair at the computer to protect our lovely white oak floors.
This mud rug does the job!
Comments about Product: I chose this rug to remove leaves, mud, and snow from shoes and boots as people enter my house. So far it is working well. Also it stays in place, fits under the door, and cleans up easily. It's great.
Comments about Product: I cannot believe I found your site through a flyer in the mail. I bought 3 of these rugs over 30 years ago and I am still using them. The back started losing pieces a few years ago so I planned on replacing but I could not remember the name of the company I purchased these from. So I am purchasing several today and it was karma finding your website this morning as I was going to try and find some replacement rugs.
Comments about Product: Unless you have a small pet, I wouldn't buy the size medium. I think the size large or runner would be a better choice.
Comments about Product: This is by far the best Mud Rug I have ever owned! It does all it says it would. My hardwood floors stay cleaner longer, no dirt or grime carried indoors anymore!

The Olla: A Brief History
Olla (Spanish, pronounced “oh-ya”) jars have been around since ancient times. Made of unglazed ceramic, ollas traditionally have short, narrow necks with wider bodies, and are made in a variety of shapes. They have been used for thousands of years for cooking, storage, and plant irrigation.
When used to irrigate plants, an olla is buried neck-deep in the ground near a plant’s roots, with the opening of the olla extended above the soil so that it can be filled with water periodically. The porous walls of the unglazed pottery allow the water to seep through gradually, constantly and consistently hydrating the plants without overwatering them – and without wasting precious water to evaporation or runoff.
The use of ollas for irrigation was introduced to the American Southwest by Spanish conquistadors during Colonial times, becoming very common among Native American tribes and Hispanic settlers. Though the technique gave way to more modern methods of irrigation some time ago, its superior efficiency, coupled with its simplicity, has caused it to make a comeback. Though the technique has changed little since its introduction, today’s ollas are usually capped off, making them even more water-efficient.
Perfect for home gardens, Ollas are a super-easy, eco-friendly, less time-consuming way to water annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables and plants of all kinds in dry, sandy soil, very hot or drought-prone areas, raised beds, and even pots, planters and hanging baskets. Fill the olla before you leave on a short vacation to enjoy worry-free watering – and a smaller water bill!
