I had been shopping for months for the right fireplace screen. I kept coming back to this one and decided to order the black. I am so happy with my purchase! The design is beautiful and the screen is not huge like all the others that I found everywhere else. I have no issues with the legs being unbalanced and everything went together very easily. The magnets on the doors work perfectly. This is definitely a great buy! I was able to find a $25 off coupon code online too.

The handles didn't fit in the holes - the length wasn't correct. Had to bend them in order to fit in correctly.

To start the arch does not meet the top of the fireplace, nor does the slop of the arch reach to the top. The legs are not balance and the screen leans forward. I have to make shives to keep it level. The magnets on the screen doors are not strong enough to keep the doors closed if it is not level. I think you misjudged the height by talking the distance to the top of the arch not the top of the side which should cover the opening. Much to much trouble to return and I will have to spend several hours fixing the problems. I would not suggest this item to my friends or customers.

I was so impressed by this screen that I had to write a review! My fireplace is brick traditional, so I was looking for something to add a little character to the look. The screen arrived in record time and the assembly took 2 minutes, super easy. I was impresssed by it's weight and I chose not to put the back legs on because of the little step down in the fireplace, but it is just as sturdy with the 2 front ones. The back legs are adjustable, as to where you place them, which is helpful for different widths of fireplaces. I have had approximately 10 fires so far and have not noticed any decrease in the hold of the magnets on the doors. Also, when opening the doors the screen remains completely balanced and in no way feels like it could tip over or fall. This is a great find; it looks and feels like it's much more expensive then it was!

I ordered this screen to replace one that I had previously ordered from Plow and Hearth that I really liked, except that it didn't exactly match the contour of my opening. When I saw this one in a recent catalogue, I thought it would look better, which it does, however, it isn't level. I had to put shims under the feet to keep it from toppling over when I open the doors. Other than that, I really like it and it looks great. Do you have any suggestions as to the best way to balance it and keep it from falling over? Also, when I went to tighten one of the cap nuts, the top of the cap nut broke off so I had to go the the hardware store and buy new ones. They didn't have the black so I had to buy silver and I will have to spray paint them black. And, the handles get hot when the fire has been on for a while. I think it would be better served if there were different handles on it. I will go to the store and look for something more substantial. Otherwise, the screen meets my needs. The other one had screen and beveled glass doors and I couldn't see and feel the fire as well as I can with this total screen area.

Looks good, got it for a gas fireplace. Had an issue with one of the front support legs(color was off). Contacted Plow and Hearth, they sent me a new one that matched and paid feight both ways. Good prompt service.

I bought this for my outdoor fireplace. Its pretty small so, I had a very hard time finding something small enough for it. The small size of this fireplace screen was perfect! And, I'm loving that I didn't have to spend a fortune to have one custom made. I read some reviews that said this comes damaged & is very flimsly. I beg to differ - its perfect. We didn't install the 2 legs that go into the fireplace & it lays perfectly. It looks amazing & goes great with my Tuscan theme.

I've been shopping for a new fireplace screen for some time. I feeled in love with this one the first time I saw it. I read almost every review and my husband and I decided to purchase the screen knowing that we may have to do some manual gerry rigging due to the screen leaning forward and replacement of the magnets due to the doors staying open. I've been using the screen for three weeks and the doors stay shut and the screen doesn't lean forward when opening the doors. We love it and happy we purchased it. However, the tongs on the tool set are useless, you can't operate them with one hand (like saled tongs) and currenlty using my tongs from my old tool set.

Purchased this screen to use with gas logs. Really appealing to the eye and love watching the fire through the screen doors. We used very small furniture pads to lift the front legs so that the screen tilted back a little more. Would recommend this product - good value for the price.

I ordered this for the copper color. The color is more subtle than the picture, which I like. I thought it was black at first. I like the reddish hue without it being too red. Fits into our decor well. We have gas logs and just needed something to keep our cats out of the fire. This fits the bill. Not too expensive but not super-cheap. The screen I REALLY want is 600 bucks, so this is a bargain. It's really pretty weighty. Not the best quality and not perfect, but I think fine for what you are paying. It's pretty!

The first one that was delivered was trash. It was split in several pieces and the screen was ripped. Poor Quality Control! After calling Plow & Hearth they sent me another one which was in good shape

I would love to give this 5 stars but cannot. It is because this item could have been made so much better, with heavier tubular steel structure and parts, that it would easily have done what the description states without need for additional TLC to keep it functioning in place.

However, it seems the mfgr wanted to make something very stunning and appealing to the eye from a distance, but skimped on the quality sadly, and because of this, we have had to go to the extent to modify some creative support means into our fireplace brick and through upper corners of mesh screening to keep this stabilized so that you can open and use either door safely and properly when adding wood or poking the fire. Without the necessary extra supporting we had to install on our end, this item would have become a serious safety hazard when the metal frame was hot from a fire as it could very easily have fallen down on our child or us when trying to simply use the doors.

Also, have not had any problems from the magnets as some in past have indicated. They seem to be very strong holding the doors closed.

Had this been made with a little more heavier steel composition and product, and still had the same features & appearance, we would have been happy giving 5 stars and even paying twice as much for this product as we had- right now, it is sadly a visually beautiful piece made from extremely skimped down materials.

The first time we received this fireplace screen was a mess. The doors were several inches different so one side was much higher than the other. there were also several parts of the screen that were coming apart. It was wrapped in old used bubble wrap that had no air left in it and the styrofoam was in crumbles all over the torn up box. it was obvious that someone else had this firescreen before or it was shipped so many times and sent back before we even got it. It was an absolute joke. however, the customer service rep was very pleasant and helpful and sent us another right away. the second one was perfect!! It was easy to assemble and is the perfect size for our fireplace. It's gorgeous. People comment on it all the time. We just have a gas fireplace so I can not comment on how well it holds sparks, etc. We also have not had to use it yet since it's blazing hot right now so I can not comment on how well the magnet/doors are going to hold up. I saw where some other customers have had some problems with that and it was the only reason we were reluctant to buy at first. Overall, so far so good!

I was not sure how this type of screen would set against the fireplace opening, but it's great. It gives you a lot more room in front of the opening than our old tri-fold. I do wish they came in a greater variety of sizes. But, all in all, this was a great screen for the price.

Very sturdy and so much easier to use than the sliding chain screen we had before. The addition of this screen really added a nice touch to the room. Now I don't worry so much about sparks getting through as the screen is fine enough to block all but the very tiniest little ember that won't get past the hearth.

I love the look and it was easy to assemble. There seems to be no leway in adjustment of legs though and I can not balance it properly, which leaves a large gap @ the top...
The magnets don't hold very well @ all unless it is totally balanced, which I can't do so I have to stuff cardboard under the legs which isn't so attractive!!

We've had this screen less than a week and it falls forward when you open the doors. When opening the doors to add wood the entire screen has fallen forward on me and my husband. We're having to place washers underneath the front feet so it will not fall forward while it's just sitting.

The magnets do not work to hold the doors shut. I added strong natural magnets ($12.00) and so far these are working. Those that are having this issue may want to try this.

It's a very lovely screen, but we're not going to be able to use if this cannot be fixed. Not worth falling forward while it's warm onto the carpent or someone.

We've emailed Plow with these issues to see if anything can be done.

I bought this for our new fireplace, and it looks GREAT! And, it works great, too! It is quite sturdy, the magnetic doors latch quite tightly, and it is just what I wanted!

Our heater isn't working, so we have been using our fireplace to keep things warm. This fire screen works well, and gives us a secure feeling.
